Rainy day in Kansas

Although it's a rainy day here in Kansas, the view from my window as I sit at my computer virtually attending a conference on bioethics, is perfect.

I just attended a presentation about the pandemic of moral distress and uncertainty that has accompanied the COVID-19 health crisis. It's something I don't believe a lot of people outside of health care are aware of. Moral distress and/or uncertainly is something clinicians experience in response to a “crisis of conscience,” a crisis which often leaves clinicians feeling “powerless, threatened, confused or guilty”. The echoes from this distress continue and will reverberate for quite some time. My hope is that this dissonance will spark transformation.

"Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, thereby a kindly word; always doing the smallest right, and doing it all for love." - Therese of Lisieux

Hope you enjoy these great shots from our visit yesterday with my niece, Christie, and great-niece, Maelee. She will have a baby brother in the next week!
